This Spring we will be offering 6-person beginner classes. All ages, good for kids and adults, and no experienced required! Our 2-day beginner group classes cover the following:
1. Wind Clock
2. Rigging
3. Sailing in a straight line
4. Sailing upwind/downwind
5. Turning (two kinds of tacks)
6. Gybing
Kids Class (13 years old & under): Please call/email for availability if your child is 13 or under!
Two experienced and US Windsurfing certified instructors per class, video analysis, photo shoots, and all windsurf equipment provided, by the end of the weekend you will feel confident on how to sail a windsurf board and have an arsenal of skills to further practice! You will also be able to rent gear at low rates from AWS after taking a class, with instructor approval.
Note: Water and air have been warm enough to go without a wetsuit. Please provide your own helmet (bike/climbing/whitewater helmets work) and wetsuit booties are recommended (not water shoes/socks).

Level 2 Beginner Group Classes are the perfect complement to those who took the Level 1 class or who are looking to take their windsurfing to the next level! Our 2-day beginner group classes cover the following:
1. Harness
2. Fast Tack
3. Pivot Gybes
4. Downwind Sailing Exercises
These skills are necessary for advancing with windsurfing and unlocking higher winds!

Private Lessons and Rentals
1:1 Windsurf Lesson (2.5 hours): $200
1:1 Windsurf Board and Sail Rental:
$30/day ($10 per additional consecutive day)
Includes board, sail, lifejacket, and helmet. Wetsuit is not provided.
1:1 Beginner Windskate Lesson (2 hours): $100
This includes a board, one sail, mast, boom and necessary accessories. Renter
must have transportation for equipment. Gear pickup near Waters Park, Austin neighborhood.
Not included: Helmet or wetsuit.
Includes board, sail, kneepads, and helmet.

What You'll Learn
Beginner Lesson Day 1
Wind clock, sailing upwind, turning, tacks, and some gybes.
Beginner Lesson Day 2
Sailing downwind, gybes, pivot gybes.
Intermediate Lesson
Fast tack, pivot gybe exercises, harnessing, and beach start.
Available for longboards and shortboards.
Waterstarts
Learning how to waterstart is a necessary skill to know in high wind windsurfing.
This can be added onto an intermediate lesson but usually takes a significant portion of time, and some wind. There are waterstart exercises in light winds that can be worked on during lessons as well.
Student must be able to swim, tread water, and hold breath underwater
Requirements for All Lessons
Wetsuits are not provided but are required when air and water temperatures are cold.
Wetsuits can be rented from Dive World and Scubaland Adventures in Austin.
With rental gear, renter must have transportation for gear.

Group Class Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend a program, it is imperative to notify us as soon as possible. Refunds will be subject to the following conditions, with cancellations processed exclusively Monday to Friday:

More than three weeks before the start of camp/class: 75% refund.

Between one and three weeks before the start of camp/class: 25% refund.
-
AWS is unable to offer refunds for cancellations submitted less than one week (five business days) before the start of class.
Additionally:
AWS reserves the right to cancel classes without a minimum number of participants. For canceled classes, we will make every attempt to place participants in an alternate class. If unable to do so, a 100% refund will be issued.
